But instead of saying<em> &#8220;Caps Lock&#8221;, <\/em>it usually has one of two different icons depending on your model: a magnifying glass or a circle.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This key is officially known as the<em> &#8220;Search \/ Launcher&#8221; <\/em>key<\/strong>, and it is used to open the app launcher or perform quick Google searches. Here are some things to check:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ensure Your Keys Are Clean.<\/strong><br>Sometimes crumbs or dirt can cause keys to stick or not register properly. You\u2019ll see if your Chromebook detects the Alt or Search keys when you press them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Check that the Search Key Function Is Not Remapped.<\/strong><br>Go to <strong><em>\u201cSettings &gt; Device &gt; Keyboard\u201d<\/em><\/strong> and make sure the Search key is still set to <em><strong>\u201cSearch\u201d.<\/strong><\/em> If it\u2019s assigned to something else or is remapped to <em><strong>\u201cCaps Lock\u201d<\/strong><\/em>, the Caps Lock shortcut might not work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hard Reset Your Chromebook.<\/strong><br>&nbsp;If nothing else works, perform a <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/chromebook\/answer\/3227606?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hard reset of your chromebook<\/a>.
