Where Is The Mic On AirPods

Do AirPods Have a Mic?

Yes, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation AirPods have a mic. You can use either AirPod as a microphone; if you use only one, it will automatically function as the microphone.

If you are using both AirPods, you can select which one you want to use as the microphone from the left or right side. To do this, go to the “Bluetooth” menu in your Apple device’s “Settings” and tap the information (“i”) button.  Then, choose your microphone and set it to left or right.

Have you ever noticed your AirPods suddenly having muffled sounds? Good news! This article can help you fix that.

Where Is the Mic on AirPods Located?

One of the microphones on AirPods is located at the bottom of the stem, while the other is at the top of the earpiece. The bottom microphone captures the user’s voice during phone calls or using voice commands for the best sound quality.

The top microphone reduces background noise, resulting in clearer conversations. It can also pick up sound outside the user’s ear canal, providing an effective noise-cancellation experience.

It’s worth noting that minimizing background noises is a feature only available on third-generation and newer AirPods.
